Bodies of husband, wife found near Tangail rail tracks

TANGAIL, Jan 04 (bdnews24.com): The bodies of a married couple have been found next to rail tracks at Kalihati upazila in Tangail.

The bodies were recovered near Bridge No. 6 in the Dhalatengar area on the Dhaka-Tangail-Jamuna-Bridge highway early on Saturday morning, according to Shaheen Mia, station master of West Ibrahimpur Station on the east side of the bridge.

The dead were identified as Nilkanta Mandal, 60, and his wife Rani Mandal, 55.

Nilkanta's cousin Laxman Mandal and locals say that the couple had gone to a kirtan performance in the Rouha area of Kalihati on Friday night. Their family started a search after they did not return home. When they did not find them, their son also searched near the highway.

"Around dawn, a man phoned and said that two dismembered bodies were next to the Bridge No. 6 rail line. We went there and saw the bodies of the husband and wife.
