KHULNA, July 30 (BSS): Police recovered the floating body of a madrasa student from Mayuri Residential Lake in Khulna on Thursday.
The deceased was identified as Soaeb, son of Hasib Mia of Boyra Cross Road in Sonadanga. He was a student at a local madrasa.
Sub-Inspector Jahangir Molla of Harintana Police Station, quoting family members, said Soaeb had a habit of leaving home without informing anyone. He went out on Wednesday afternoon and did not return.
His family searched for him at different places throughout the night but failed to locate him.
Local residents spotted his body floating in the lake at around 9:00am on Thursday and informed the police, who later recovered the body. His parents rushed to the scene after receiving the news.
The police officer said preliminary findings suggested that Soaeb did not know how to swim. He may have slipped into the lake while attempting to enter the water and drowned.
The body will be handed over to the family after the completion of the necessary legal procedures, police added.
