Boi Mela of CCC gets momentum in port city

CHATTOGRAM, Feb 19: Book Festival (Boi Mela) of Chattogram City Corporation (CCC) in observance of the month of language movement began on February 8 on the M A Aziz Stadium premises.

Book-lovers are coming to the stalls of books. Around 100 publishers of the country opened their stalls at the book fair. Besides, cultural functions have attracted the people to go to the fair.

The stall owners said that selling of books is quite satisfactory. Children are buying books while some students are also the buyers.

More than six hundred books have been published from Chattogram in February. Some books on brail system for sight disabled people have been published this year. Some little magazines have also been published.

Mayor of Chattogram City Corporation Alhaj Rezaul Karim said, "The CCC has arranged the Boi Mela in Chattogram which is the second largest book fair of the country."

"We are trying to encourage the writers and poets here in Chattogram. Boi Mela will certainly encourage them. So, CCC will continue it in Chattogram every year," he added.

The Boi Mela will end on February 28. This year, a total of 40 publishers of Chattogram are participating in the Boi Mela.
