Boro cultivation going on in Singimari Beel area

NILPHAMARI, Dec 27: Boro cultivation going on in full swing in the Singimari Beel area of the district.

The beel consists of a vast area of three union councils - Khokshabari, Kundupukur and Sonaray and a part of Nilphamari municipality. The renowned beel is 7.10 km in length and 3.0 km in breadth occupying 20,000 hectares of land.

To avoid water logging and provide irrigation facilities, there are 44 outlets, 14 culverts, four power pumps and electric lines in the area. For the entire area four irrigation committees comprising local farmers has also been formed.

An official of DAE said they provided all necessary support to the growers for achieve a good production of Boro.

Farmer Abdur Rahman said he is farming Boro on one acre of land this season. Boro production comparatively high around the beel area, he further said.
