Boro seedling transplantation nears completion in Panchagarh

PANCHAGARH, Mar 02 (BSS): The farmers are expecting a bumper production as transplantation of Boro seedling is nearing completion in the district.
The farmers are now nurturing their paddy fields.
Favourable climatic condition and adequate supply of high quality seed has helped the farmers.
The Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) official sources said around 46,500 hectares of land have been brought under Boro cultivation in all five upazilas of the district with the production target of 0.37 million tonnes of fresh rice in this season.
Deputy Director of DAE of Panchagarh Abu Hossein told the news agency that about 90 per cent lands have already been planted.
The the remaining would be completed within one week, the official added.
DAE official sources said they are hopeful of getting a bumper production of the cereal crop.
Besides, the department has distributed seeds, fertilisers and other agricultural inputs among 200 farmers at free of cost to make the cultivation programme a success.
The Bangladesh Agriculture Development Corporation (BADC) distributed high quality seeds to the farmers of the district at fair price.
Different commercial banks including Rajshahi Krishi Unnayan bank (RAKUB) has distributed easy-term loan to the farmers.
The department has also provided training on modern agri production technologies amongst farmers for boosting bumper production.
