CHANDPUR, Jun 01: Following the Eid celebrations, hundreds of holidaymakers from across the district and beyond are flocking to Chandpur's popular tourist spots with their families and loved ones to spend their leisure time.

Located at the confluence of three mighty rivers-the Meghna, Padma, and Dakatia-the Parjatan Kendra offers breathtaking natural beauty. The meeting point of these rivers creates a captivating landscape characterised by strong currents and towering waves, drawing visitors from far and wide.

Many tourists compared the mesmerising sunset view at the river confluence to that of Cox's Bazar. The spectacular sight of the sun setting over the vast waters has become a major attraction for visitors.

Whirlpools caused by the powerful river currents frequently form at the confluence, creating a fascinating spectacle for tourists and first-time visitors. However, due to the dangers posed by these whirlpools, boatmen avoid crossing them and instead navigate at a safe distance to prevent accidents.

Tourist Sweety and her husband, Suman Bokaul, told The Financial Express (FE) that they visit the spot during every Eid vacation to enjoy its unique beauty and tranquil environment.

The number of visitors increases significantly in the afternoon. Tourists enjoy the sunset while sitting along the riverbanks and on the Town Protection Dam. Many also take boat rides on the rivers.

Boatmen Sabur Haolader, Ismail Mia, and Nurul Huque Miji said they earn between Tk 1,000 and Tk 1,200 per day during the Eid holiday season due to the increased number of visitors.

Jahid Hossain of Baburhat in Chandpur Sadar, Masud Mia of Faridganj, Moinul Islam of Shahrasti Upazila, and Kaosar Mamun of Matlab Dakshin said they return to the spot again and again because of its scenic charm.

The visitors also noted that they enjoy the taste of fresh Hilsa fish served at nearby restaurants.

Many tourists travel to Chandpur by launch from Dhaka and return in the afternoon after purchasing fresh Hilsa from the local fish market near the river ghat.
