C'nawabganj road accident kills couple

CHAPAINAWABGANJ, Jan 20 (BSS): A man and his wife were killed in a road accident at Ranihati on the Chapainawabganj-Sonamasjid Highway under Shibganj upazila in Chapainawabganj district on Saturday noon.

The deceased were identified as Aslam Uddin alias Enamul, 65, and his wife Miniara Begum, 55, residents of Islampur area of the district town.

Officer-in-charge (OC) of Shibganj thana, Habibul Islam said the couple was going to Rashiknagr village of the upazila in a motorbike. As they reached Ranihati College square at around 12:15 pm, a Sonamasjid- bound truck hit their motorcycle from behind, leaving the duo dead on the spot.

Being informed, police from Shibganj police station rushed to the spot and recovered the bodies. Police also detained the truck but the driver and the helper fled away.
