Couple die from snakebite

RANGPUR, Nov 20: An elderly man and his wife died from snakebite at Char Biswanath village of Tepamadhupur union under Kawnia upazila in the district early Monday.

Family and local sources said Mohammad Ali, 66 and his wife Monwara Begum (Monira), 55 were sleeping on their bed in the house after having dinner.

At around 3.00am, a venomous snake initially bit Mohammad Ali's right foot and soon afterwards, the snake bit his wife.

Hearing their scream, the neighbours came to their house and found the snake on the bed and caught it.

Monira died on the spot and her husband Mohammad Ali died while being taken to the Rangpur Medical College Hospital at 4.00 am.
