Cox's Bazar, Habiganj road crashes kill five

COX'S BAZAR, Feb 19 (UNB): Three people were killed and two injured as a private car hit a roadside tree in Teknaf upazila of the district early Monday.

The deceased were identified as Mahbubur Alam Mabu, son Nur Alam of Jaiopara in Teknaf, Md Ismail, 32, son of Abdul Jalil Julu of Achhar Bania village and Helal Uddin, 28, of Moulovipara village in Teknaf. The accident took place around 4 am when five friends were returning to Teknaf after visiting Cox's Bazar sea beach, leaving three people dead on the spot and two others injured, said Officer-in-Charge of Teknaf Model Police Station Md Main Uddin Khan.

The injured were rushed to Cox's Bazar Sadar Hospital.

Meanwhile, BSS adds: In Habiganj, two people were killed as a private car collided head-on with a tractor in Suraboi area under Shayestaganj upazila on Monday.

The deceased were identified as MA Masud Halim, territory officer of British American Tobacco Company and car driver Mamun Ahmed, a resident of Jhenidah district.

Police recovered the bodies and sent to the Zila Sadar Hospital morgue.
