One Belal Ahmed Imran of Ramdhana village under Biswanath upazila has been growing the uncommon vegetable since 2015.
Belal said he collected quality seeds of capsicum from different areas and started farming on 40 decimals of land.
Bangalbondhu National Agriculture Award winner Belal said, "I have already made a profit of Tk 0.17 million from 2,300 plants in 65 days this season." He expects the hope to make Tk 40,000 more in days.
"Officials of the Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) and agri-experts of Sylhet Agricultural University (SAU) support me in preventing pest attack", grower belal said.
Prof Md Shahidul Islam of Horticulture Department, SAU, said, "Belal is doing a unique job. We helped him to set up a separate demonstration plot for capsicum farming. He also inspired a good number of local youths in growing the vegetable."
"Zaber Hossain and Koysor Ahmed for neighbouring villages have joined me. We have a supply link with Dhaka", Belal added.
Belal, a graduate, said, "I see a better prospect in farming crops like capsicum, serpent chilli (Naga Morich), broccoli, long bean, etc. They have high demand across the country.
Deputy director of DAE, Sylhet, Md Abul Hashim said Belal is a modern farmer. He also inspires local youth in fish farming.
