Cultivation of garlic on in Nilphamari

NILPHAMARI, Jan 21:  Cultivation of garlic is going on in Nilphamari district.

Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) sources said this year's target of garlic cultivation in the district is in 794 hectares of land to produce 5161 metric tonnes at an average production of 6.50 metric tonnes per hectare. This year's target of garlic cultivation is 211 hectares less than that of the last year.

In the last year garlic was cultivated is 1005 hectares of land in the district.  

At present price of garlic is hovering between Tk 4000 and Tk 5000 per maund (40 kg) in the local markets.
