Cumilla, Gopalganj road crashes kill three

A total of three persons were killed in separate road accidents in Cumilla and Gopalganj district on Sunday, report agencies.

In Cumilla, two people were killed and seven others were injured when a bus hit an auto-rickshaw and plunged into a roadside ditch on Dhaka-Chattogram highway in Daudkandi upazila of Cumilla district on Sunday.

The deceased were identified as Faruk Hossain, 38, an auto-rickshaw driver of Daudkandi upazila and Mizanur Rahman, 49, of Chuadanga district.

The accident occurred around 3 pm at Jinglatoli area when the bus of 'Econo Paribahan' hit an auto-rickshaw and plunged into the roadside ditch, leaving two killed on the spot and seven others injured, said Officer-in-charge of Daudkandi Highway Police Iqbal Bahar.

In Gopalganj, an elderly man was killed after being run over by a brick-laden trolley in Gopalganj Sadar upazila on Sunday morning.

The deceased was identified as Machem Molla, 75, a resident of the Gopinathpur Sharifpara area of the upazila.

The accident occurred in front of the Gopinathpur Sharifpara Filling Station on the Dhaka-Khulna highway.
