MAGURA, May 22: Dealers of TCB goods in the district are yet to take delivery the items from the godown though the authority concerned reduced the prices.

Sources said lentil under TCB sale is selling at Tk 50 per against Tk 60 before, date at Tk 100 against Tk 120 and gram is being sold at Tk 65 against Tk 70.

Prices of other two commodity items -- sugar (Tk 55) and soybean (Tk 85) are still as the same.

Moinul Hossen, a dealer in the district town said TCB sugar was being sold at Tk 55 per kg as against Tk 54 in local market while lentil at Tk 60 per kg as against Tk 56 and gram at Tk 70per kg as against Tk 60 in local market.

"As price of TCB goods were higher compared to local market I did not draw TCB goods. People come to purchase TCB goods just before Ramadan. Consumers have already stocked their necessaries for the whole month. So reduction in TCB price in recent time will bring no result. I have decided not to draw TCB goods", he added.

Another dealer Harunur Rashid of Polita Bazar under Magura Sadar said if such decision came earlier it would helpful both for the buyer and dealers.

The district traders' association president Humayan Kabir Raza said people of low income group depend on TCB goods during Ramadan. Government has recently reduced the prices of three items so that traders could exploit consumers by making syndicate.

"But it would better if it could be earlier", he added.

TCB Khulna official Robiul Morshed admitted that Magura dealers did not take delivery of goods. He further said reduction of price may encourage the dealers.

Magura district marketing officer Jakir Hossein said as the prices are under control, absence of TCB goods will not affect the market situation.
