Efforts going on to rehabilitate Nilphamari beggars

NILPHAMARI, Mar 12: Relentless efforts are being going on in full swing to rehabilitate beggars and eliminate the curse and worst profession in Nilphamari district.

As a part of the campaign 100 beggars were trained in different trades including rearing of poultry hen, cow, goats, operate small business, needle work, making paper made utensils and so on in Bhogdaburi union council of Domar upazila.

The beggars were imparted training at Bhogdaburi union office complex that ended recently.

The seven they long training was mainly conducted by Department of Animal Husbandry office Nilphamari, BSCIC office, handicraft artists of district Somajseba office and so on.

The training programme was regularly supervised by UNO Domar upazila Sabina Sultana, upazila chairman Domar Abdur Razzak Bosunia, district animal husbandry officer Rashedul Alam, Bhogdaburi UP chairman Akramul Haque and others.

The trained beggars also provided different tools including poultry hen, goats, cow and so on so that they can be self employed and maintain their own livelihood and abandon begging as a profession.

While contacted upazila chairman Abdur Razzak Bosunia said in the meantime Kishorgonj upazila has been declared beggar free one so steps has been taken to declare Domar as a beggar free upazila as soon as possible.
