Farming area increases in Sylhet division

SYLHET, Jan 29: Cultivation of different crops during the current season in on the rise in all the four districts of Sylhet division.

Additional director of DAE, Sylhet Division, Md Altabur Rahman said, farming area is expected to be increased within the next two weeks due to a suitable weather condition.

The DAE also provides all necessary support to the growers as that they can grow more crops without any hassle.

The Bangladesh Agricultural Development Corporation (BADC) also supplies high yielding varieties' seeds to the farmers.

Farmer Abdus Shahid of village Mollargaon under Sylhet Sadar said a good number of growers of the area have started farming non-traditional crops for more profit. Mechanised farming and irrigation have increased production in recent times.
