MANIKGANJ, Feb 05 (UNB): Ferry services on Aricha-Kazirhat and Paturia-Daulatdia routes in Manikganj resumed on Wednesday
morning after dense fog lifted causing several hours of suspension.
Nasir Chowdhury, Deputy General Manager of Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC) in Aricha region, said the ferry
operations on the Paturia-Daulatdia and Aricha-Kazirhat routes resumed at 8:30am and 9am respectively after eight and seven hours of suspension.
Earlier, the BIWTC suspended the ferry services on both routes early
Wednesday amid the dense fog, leaving more than 400 vehicles stuck at four terminals.
The severity of the fog intensified around 2 am covering the entire river route and making navigation lights invisible.
To avoid any accidents, the ferry operations on the Aricha-Kazirhat route were suspended
at 2am, he said.
Moreover, the ferry services on the Paturia-Daulatdia route remained
suspended from 2:30am on the same ground, halting 12 ferries at both terminals.
