Fire guts 40 shops in Gazipur kitchen mkt

A fire has ripped through a kitchen market at Gazipur's Chandana intersection, destroying about 40 shops that sold chicken, potatoes, onions, spices and groceries, reports bdnews24.com.
However, no casualties were reported in the incident. The fire erupted around 5:45am on Thursday, according to Mohammad Mamun, deputy assistant director of the Gazipur Fire Service.
Three units from the Bhogra Fire Service and two from Joydebpur were dispatched to the scene and worked for more than an hour to bring the flames under control.
The fire was fully extinguished by 07:20 am, Mamun said.
