Five illegal brick kilns fined Tk 1.7m in Sherpur

SHERPUR, Dec 18 (BSS): The district administration on Thursday conducted a mobile court drive against five illegal brick kilns in the district and fined them a total of Tk 1.7 million (17 lakh) and ordered permanent closure of their operations.

The drive was carried out throughout the day in Sadar and Sribardi upazilas.

The day-long drive was led by Assistant Commissioner and Executive Magistrate Shakil Ahmed.

According to mobile court sources, several brick kilns in Sadar upazila were operating without permission from the Department of Environment. Legal action was taken against the unauthorised establishments for violating environmental regulations.
