Focus on life-oriented training for youths

RAJSHAHI, Jan 29 (BSS): Speakers at a workshop stressed the need for arranging life-oriented training for the youths aiming to transform them as worthy citizens by boosting their level of confidence.

If the youths avail the scopes of getting time-befitting trainings, they will be able to find works, keeping themselves away from social crimes and drug-addiction, the speakers said while addressing the closing session of a daylong training workshop for youths on 'Grant Management' held at Cookie Jar conference hall in the city recently.

The Hunger Project Bangladesh in association with PRODIGY Programme and British Council organised the training focusing on the importance of grants management. A total of 36 youth leaders took part in the training.

Former Deputy Director of Department of Social Services Pear Box, college teachers Mahmudul Alam Masud and Mojammel Haque and development activist Hasinur Rahman, among others, spoke on the occasion.

Field coordinator (Monitoring and Operation) of PRODIGY Programme Subrata Kumar Paul and its programme officer Masum Russel conducted the training as resource persons.

The speakers said the youths need training on grant management relating to the activities of local government institutions for gaining knowledge on the issue.

A designed and specific planning is very important for any strong financial management, they said.

PRODIGY programme intends to build the capacity of young people to ensure good governance in local government institutions so that they can help ensure people's participation in government activities.
