December 28, 2017 00:00:00

RAJSHAHI, Dec 27 (BSS): Speakers at a discussion laid emphasis on good poultry farming practice for disease-free public health.

They said there should be adequate measures to bring all the poultry farmers, traders, feed manufactures, sellers and others concerned under necessary training to enhance their awareness in this field.

All quarters like farmers, hatchery owners, poultry bird sellers, feed meal manufacturers and sellers and the field level officers and staffs should work together to this end. There is no alternative to substantial and sustainable promotion of good poultry practice.

The observations came at a day-long inception workshop of an Issue-based project titled "Food Safety Governance in Poultry Sector in Bangladesh" at Paba Upazila Parishad conference hall in Rajshahi yesterday.

Consumer Association of Bangladesh (CAB) organised the workshop in association with UKaid and British Council. Bangladesh Aquaculture Alliance (BAA) organised the training in association with Bangladesh Economic Growth Project and Business Promotion Council under the Ministry of Commerce.

Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Md Shalauddin and Upazila Nirbahi Officer Anwar-ul-Halim addressed the meeting as chief and special guests respectively with CAB local unit general secretary Golam Mostofa Mamun in the chair.
