Four of a family killed in M’singh road crash

MYMENSINGH, Dec 26 (bdnews24.com): Four members of the same family have been killed after a truck and an autorickshaw crashed head-on at Tarakanda upazila in Mymensingh district.
Two others were injured in the accident.
The incident occurred in the Gachtala area of the Mymensingh-Netrokona highway on Thursday morning, said Tipu Sultan, chief of the Tarakanda Police Station.
The deceased were identified as 55-year-old Abdur Rashid, who hails from Netrokona's Satberikanda, his wife 42-year-old Bakula Akter, Bakula's 44-year-old brother Bidya Mia, 44, and Bidya's 18-year-old daughter-in-law Labni Akhter.
Rashid worked at a garments factory in Gazipur's Sreepur, while his brother-in-law Bidya worked as a mason.
An autorickshaw was heading from Mymensingh to Netrokona when it crashed head-on into a dump truck travelling in the opposite direction, police said citing locals. Two people died on the spot.
Four people with injuries were admitted to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital, where two of them later died. Bidya's wife Lovely Begum and autorickshaw driver Antur Mia are currently receiving treatment at the hospital.
Lal Mia, Labni's father, told the media that Rashid and the other members of the family set off from the Masterbari area of Sreepur around 4am to see Khorshed Alam, Rashed's father-in-law. They hired an autorickshaw in Mymensingh and later were caught in the accident.
The bodies of Rashid and Bakula are at the Mymensingh Medical College Hospital morgue, while the bodies of Bidya and Labni are at the Shyamganj Police Outpost.
The bodies will be handed over to the family once the autopsies are complete, said Tarakanda police OC Tipu.
