RAJSHAHI, Aug 20: The sale of air conditioners, air coolers and fans has increased in the city markets following the prolonged rise of day temperature in the district.
All the electric and electronics shops in the city were witnessing a large number of customers. The demand of charger fan has also boosted following frequent load shedding.
According to size and brand, a charger fan is being sold from Tk 1,800 to Tk 2,800. The fan brands of Sunca and Victor are the most popular.
On the other hand, sale of refrigerators of various brands has also increased in city electronics shops ahead of ensuing Eid-ul-Azha.
In addition of local brands, many foreign brands of fans, both stand and ceiling, were being sold in electric and electronics shops of the city.
Due to a huge supply of fans of various brands, it was very tough for simple customers to choose the best one.
With the increase of selling of fans, the selling of AC and air cooler has also increased in city electronics shops.
According to a source of Electronics Owners Association of Rajshahi, a one ton capacity AC is being sold at Tk 32,000 while a two tonne capacity of AC is being sold at Tk 52,000 to Tk 58,000 based on various brands.
Electric and electronics mechanics shops of the city were witnessing a large number of people to repair their out of order fans and ACs.
Some mechanics in the city informed, they have stopped taking any order as there were a lot of old orders to fix those. As a result, the customers were visiting the electric and electronics shops to purchase new fans and ACs.
Air cooler and air conditioners were also being increasingly used now-a-days at the many mosques, madrashas, temples, offices and in educational institutions.
As a result, demand of those has been increased. In the posh shops of the city, three to four refrigerators are being sold on an average daily.
However, customers were being witnessed at Singer and LG brand shops. The sale of local brand Walton refrigerator also has a good demand among customers.
The foreign, elite brands of refrigerators Toshiba and Hitachi were also being sold increasingly.
A 10 cft capacity Toshiba and Hitachi fridge is being sold at Tk 43,000 while a 16 cft capacity LG fridge is being sold at Tk 59, 000, a 14 cft capacity of the same is Tk 35,000 and 12 cft is being sold at Tk 27,000.
A 9 cft Singer brand of refrigerator is being sold at Taka 27,000.
A 12 cft brand is being sold at Tk 33,000, while local brand 13.5 cft Walton is being sold at Tk 27,550, while a glass door 20 cft Walton is being sold at Tk 36,000.
Various brands of ceiling and stand fans including Media fan is being sold at Tk 1,300, Himel at Tk 1,800, Mira of Thailand at Tk 3,400, Nova of Bangladesh is from Tk 1,800 to Tk 5,500 while various brands of Pakistan, China and Thailand made fans were being sold from Tk 4,000 to Tk 5,500 each.
Shamsuzzaman Polash, general secretary of Electronics Owners' Association, said there are more than 100 electronics shops in the city.
During the summer every year, the sale of fan, air cooler and refrigerator is increased.
