Gaibandha dist admin holds firework festival

GAIBANDHA, May 16 (BSS): A firework festival organized by the district administration was held at Shah Abdul Hamid Stadium of the town on Tuesday evening on successful launching of Bangabandhu Satellite-1 to the space.

Deputy Commissioner (DC) Gautam Chandra Pal attended the function as the chief guest and superintendent of police (SP) Abdul Mannan Miah was the special guest.

Speaking at the function, DC Gautam Chandra Pal said Bangladesh has achieved tremendous success in different sectors including education, medicine, agriculture and technology.

The successful launching of Bangabandhu Satellite-1 to the space is a benchmark in the history of Bangladesh and it has also brightened the image of Bangladesh across the world, he added.

Later, the guests formally inaugurated the festival through setting off firework in the sky around 8.30pm.

A large number of people including general secretary of Bangladesh Awami League, district unit, Abu Bakar Siddique, district level officials, political leaders, public representatives and members of the civil society including journalists were present on the occasion.
