Gazipur, Habiganj road accidents claim six lives

GAZIPUR, Mar 29 (BSS): Three people were killed in a road accident on the Dhaka-Mymensingh Highway in Hotapara under Gazipur Sadar on Thursday morning.
The deceased were identified as Asaduzzaman, an employee of ACI Ltd, Faridul Haque, an officer of the company and Rubel Hossain, driver of the microbus.
Police said the accident took place in the area around 10am when a microbus hit a stationed truck from behind, leaving all the microbus passengers dead on the spot.
Police recovered the bodies and sent those to Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmed Medical College and Hospital for autopsy.
Police also seized the microbus and the truck from the spot.
Meanwhile, UNB adds: In Habiganj, three people were killed and six others injured when a bus plunged into a roadside ditch on Dhaka-Sylhet highway at Pitua in Nabiganj upazila on Thursday.
The identities of the deceased could not be known immediately.
Bimal Chandra Bhoumik, officer-in-charge of Highway Police Camp, said the accident took place in the area around 10:30am when a Habiganj-bound bus from Sylhet fell into a roadside ditch as its driver lost control over the steering, leaving three killed on the spot and six others injured.
The injured were taken to Sylhet Osmani Medical College Hospital.
