A total of four persons were killed in separate road accidents in Gazipur and Tangail on Sturday, reports agencies.
In Gazipur, three people were killed and another was injured when a truck hit a CNG-run auto-rickshaw on Kaliakoir-Phulbaria road at Namashulai in Kaliakair upazila of Gazipur district on Saturday.
One of the deceased was identified as
Obaidul
while the identities of two others could not be known yet.
The accident occurred around 8 am when the truck crashed into the CNG-run auto-rickshaw, leaving three people dead on the spot and another injured, said Quamrul Hasan, sub-inspector of Kaliakoir Police Station.
The injured were taken to Kaliakair Upazila Health Complex.
In Tangail, aworker was killed and six others, including an officer-in-charge (OC)
of Gorai Highway Police, were injured when a truck hit another one which overturned on the Dhaka-Tangail highway at Mirzapur Bypass early on Sturday morning.
The deceased was Elias, 35, hailed from Rangpur district.
"A potato-laden truck turned
turtle on the highway as its drive lost control over the vehicle.
When police and others were remove the truck and potatoes
from the highway, another truck hit the vehicle from behind, leaving worker Elias dead
on the spot and injuring six others, including Gorai Highway
Police Station OC Masud Khan, a sergeant and two policemen," said Siraj, sub-
inspector
of Gorai Highway Police Station.
The injured were taken to Mirzapur Kumudini Hospital, he added.
