Girl drowns in Laxmipur

LAXMIPUR, Oct 02 (BSS): A minor girl drowned in a canal at Uttor Chandrapur village under Sadar upazila on Wednesday.

The deceased was identified as Mahi Akhter, 06, daughter of Sumon, hailed from the village.

Local people said the incident occurred when Mahi falling from a bamboo bridge as she was crossing it to go to her school.

Divers of Fire Service and Civil Defence of the district recovered her body around 3.00 pm from the canal.

The body was handed over to her family by Chandraganj Thana Police.
