Gopalganj, Natore road accidents kill four

GOPALGANJ, Nov 14 (BSS): Two teenage girls were killed and 24 others injured in a road accident in Natunbazar area under Tungipara upazila of the district on Tuesday noon.

The deceased are identified as Samapti Biswas, 12, of Basbaria village and Sumi Khanom, 12, a resident of Basuria village under Tungipara upazila of the district.

Inspector of Tungipara Police Station Firoj Alam said the accident took place on the Tungipara-Gopalganj Highway as a bus fell into a roadside ditch, leaving Sumi dead on the spot and 25 others injured.

The injured were sent to Tungipara and Sadar hospitals where Samapti succumbed to her injuries.

Meanwhile, UNB adds: In Natore, two motorcyclists, including a Junior School Certificate (JSC) examinee, were killed and another was injured as a truck hit their bike in Dighapatia area of the district town on Tuesday.

The deceased were identified as examinee Mim and motorcycle driver Zahurul, residents of Islambari village in Sadar upazila.

Fire Service sources said the truck crashed into the motorcycle when Zahurul was taking the two JSC examinees -- Mim and Masud -- home after their examination, leaving Zahurul dead on the spot and the two schoolchildren critically injured.

Of the injured, Mim died on the way to hospital, said the sources.
