GOPALGANJ, Oct 23: Development work on Environmental Sanitation and Water Supply Project under Gopalganj municipalities for the fiscal year 2018-2019 is nearing completion.
Around 90 per cent work of the project has already been completed, official sources said.
According to the Department of Public Health Engineering (DPHE), Gopalganj official sources said, earlier in October 1996 the DPHE, Gopalganj acquired eight acres of land in the Shishuban area in Gopalganj city and last year (2018) DPHE took the project for implementation of work with the budget of Tk 93.7 million.
Then on October 30, 2018, MT-SS and AR Consortium Gopalganj started the work under the supervision of DPHE, Gopalganj where completion time is around 18 months, sources said.
Dipok Chandra Talukder, executive engineer, DPHE, Gopalganj said, "We are closely monitoring and ensuring the quality of the work. We expect to finish the work by April 30, 2020."
He further said around 90 per cent work of the project already been completed.
About 300 cubic metres water will be delivered from this treatment plant per hour, the official added.
Ratan Kumar Shaha, sub-assistant engineer, DPHE, Gopalganj Sadar said 1,14,000 people under Gopalganj pourashava will get fresh water facilities from this surface water treatment plant, when start it functioning, Mr Shaha said.
Ahsanur Rahman Sikder, contractor of this project said, "We are trying to finish the work by April 30, 2020."
