Grabbers target Disability School in Cumilla district

CUMILLA, Oct 21: It has been alleged that an attempt was made to grab an educational institution called Parash Disability School in the Araiora area of Cumilla Adarsh Sadar upazila.
In this connection a press conference was held on Monday to protest the attempts and to seek administration's intervention to protect the school.
President of the Board of Directors of Parash Disability School Md Zahir Hossain read out a written statement at a press conference.
He said the school was established in 2008 by the Parash Social Welfare Organisation in the Araiora area. Mirza Fatema Ahmed established this school on her own land.
For the past 11 years, the school has been well-managed. A two-storied building was constructed at the school with the grant of Cumilla Zilla Parishad.
The school is functioning well in that building.At present, the school has a total of 95 students and four class teachers, one health teacher and service worker.
Zahir Hossain alleged on September 07, a local man named started trying to occupy the open ground in front of the school. he is an associate of another influential person in the area. They also removed the school's signboard.
In this situation, Md Zahir Hossain sought the cooperation of all including the administration to protect the school.
Meanwhile, this correspondent tried to call one of the alleged grabber over cellphone a number of times, but his mobile phone was found switched off.
However, another accused person denied the allegations against him and claimed his innocence.
