Holidaymakers' flow increasing on Cox's Bazar beach as winter sets in

COX'S BAZAR, Nov 18: Cox's Bazar, the world's longest sea beach, has seen a surge in the movement and volume of holidaymakers giving a clear sign of the arrival of winter.

Now various points of the beach bustle with millions of tourists converging from different parts of the country. Especially Sugandha, Laboni and Kalatali beach points are brimming with crowds of visitors.

A festive-like atmosphere is visible all along the entire beach with the overwhelming crowds of the travel-hungry people. In this situation, life guards and tourist police have also strengthened security efforts.

The surge in the flow of tourists has especially been noticed along the beach since Thursday (November 13) morning. Children are playing on the sand, some are busy taking selfies. Tourists are enjoying extreme waves of the Bay of Bengal. The coastline resounds with the roaring ocean waves and the clamours of cheerful visitors.

Cox's Bazar sea beach usually becomes festive during the weekends. Visitors in their thousands gather on the world's longest sea beach since morning. Some have come to visit with their families, some are enjoying the waves with their friends.

Monirul Islam, a tourist from Rajshahi, said, "Now the winter weather and the surrounding environment, are very lively and joyful. If you do not soak your feet in the sea at this beautiful time, your life will remain incomplete. That is why I've rushed to Cox's Bazar to soak my feet in the salty water of the sea."

Another tourist, Nezamat Mia, said, "The sea is always beautiful. So whenever I get a vacation, I come to the Cox's Bazar beach to spend time with my family. I am very happy to leave the city of buildings and enjoy the salty water of the sea."

Sameer Shaha, a tourist from Dhaka said, "Winter has come, the sea is calm at this time and the water is very clear. So bathing in the sea at this time feels very peaceful. Besides, Cox's Bazar is a place where the mind actually gets better. I am very happy."

Meanwhile, the tourist season has started from November 1. That is why hotel motel bookings are also increasing. This is putting a smile on the faces of businessmen.

Abul Kashem, a resident of Baharchara in the tourist town, has a shop selling pickles, oysters and snail ornaments, among other products, at Kalatali Beach Point. He said business has been good in the last few days. If tourists do not come, their business will somehow run. Accordingly, business is good this time.

Agile businessman Shafiqul Islam said the arrival of tourists in Cox's Bazar has increased in the beginning of November. Along with this, there has come a good momentum in business.

Meanwhile, patrolling of the Tourist Police has been increased to ensure safety of tourists. Lifeguards are warning tourists not to go beyond the designated limits in the sea.

Senior lifeguard of the Sea Safe Life Guard Organization, Abdu Salam, said, a large number of tourists are bathing in the sea. Therefore, lifeguards are on duty at three points from 7 am till evening for their safety. Along with the lifeguards, the tourist police, beach workers and the executive magistrate of the district administration are on duty round the clock for the safety of tourists.

Tourism businessman Mukim Khan said

Cox's Bazar is crowded with tourists. If such a crowd continues, this sector will prosper even more.

Abu Taleb, manager of Hotel The Cox Today, said, "The tourist season has begun. Therefore, the arrival of tourists is also increasing. Due to which bookings have increased. Hopefully, the arrival of tourists in Cox's Bazar will increase further in the coming days and the tourism business will gain momentum.

Additional DIG of Tourist Police Apel Mahmud said, "Our activities are continuing for the safety of tourists at the beginning of the season. Tourist Police is working day and night to ensure that no criminal harms the beach area."

The district administration has informed that regular mobile courts are being conducted by the magistrate. In addition, coordinated security monitoring is continuing with the help of the law enforcing agencies.
