Human chain demands release of RU journo

RAJSHAHI, Nov 15: The journalists working on Rajshahi University have formed a human chain today demanding the release of the university correspondent of Daily Jugantor Manik Raihan Bappy.

The human chain programme was held in front of the Central Library on the campus at 2.00 pm.

Bappy was arrested from his home in Chapainawabganj on November 13 in a case filed under the ICT Act.

The case was filed by Prof Kazi Zahid, a teacher of the Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) department of the university, in 2015.

The editor of Daily Jugantor Saiful Alam and the editor of a local daily Sonali Sangbad Liakat Ali have also been made accused in the case along with five other journalists.

Speakers at the human chain demanded unconditional release of the arrested journalist and immediate withdrawal of the case.
