Insolvent justice seekers to get financial help in Nilphamari

NILPHAMARI, Oct 04: Poor and insolvent justice seekers get requisite financial help in Nilphamari district. The government is providing financial support to the poor and ultra poor justice seekers for their cases filed in the court of justice.

Sources said that the district centre for Legal Aid was established in 2001. Till then the centre is being operated very successfully.

While contacted Abdul Alim Bosunia, president of Nilphamari District Bar Association said there is a District Committee to operate the fund meant for this purpose and the committee is functioning properly. He said the committee is conducting 2668 cases of last five years in the district and in the meantime 587 cases has been resolved.

He said government provided Tk 0.8 million for the committee and the amount is deposited in the savings account of Sonali Bank Ltd Nilphamari.

The committee comprises District Judge as president and representative of government and non-government organizations as members.

Sources said a specific category of poor and ultra poor people are eligible to apply for financial help from this fund. Sources said the Legal Aid Committee also try to compromise some cases between the parties wherever it is possible.
