Three persons were killed in separate road accidents in Kishoreganj and Chattogram districts on Tuesday, report agencies.

The deceased were identified as Ali Akbar, 13, an eighth-grader of Madhyapara High School, and son of Faruk from Madhyapara village, and his cousin Junaid, 12, a sixth-grader of the same school and son of Ferdous from the same area.

Witnesses said when the boys were going to their school's sports event on a motorbike a bus hit the motorbike, leaving Ali Akbar dead on the spot.

Junaid was rushed to a hospital with critical injuries where he succumbed to his injuries.

Enraged by the deaths, locals including students blocked the highway by setting fire to tires and vandalised several vehicles, disrupting traffic for nearly two hours.

In Chattogram, a teenage girl was killed after falling off a CNG autorickshaw and then being run over by a bus at Banshkhali in Chattogram on Tuesday morning.

The deceased was identified as Monika Akhtar, 14, daughter of Nasir Uddin, a resident of Matarbari North Rajghata under Maheshkhali Police Station.

When Monika was on her way to Maheshkhali from Chittagong, she suddenly fell off the vehicle and was run over by a bus in the Habib's Shop area under Banshkhali upazila around 9 am.
