LGED to build eight bridges in Sylhet

SYLHET, Apr 04: With a target to strengthening rural road link network on the remote bordering areas of the district, a total of eight bridges would be built at a cost of Tk 2.0 billion by the Local Government Engineering Department (LGED), official sources said.

The project was approved at the ECNEC meeting on March 27. Work on those bridges would begin after bidding by June this year. Implementation of the long-desired project would improve the existing communication, especially transportation of goods and people's mobility on the remote villages would be hugely benefited, a number of locals informed.

over the Someswari river on the Sunamganj-Moheshkhola road, 300-metre long bridge over the Ubdakhali river near Maddhyanagar upazila, 300-metre long bridge over the Buraiya river on the Joysri-Golakpur road near Joysri Bazar of Jamalganj upazila, 300-metre long bridge over the Boulai river on the Golakpur-Sachnabazar road of Jamalganj, 308- metre long bridge over the river Kajua (Mora Kushiyara) on the Derai-Dhol-Markuli road under Derai upazila, 750-metre long road over the Jadukata river on Moheshkhola-Tekerghat-Laurergarh road under Tahirpur upazila, 400-meter long bridge near Damperbazar over the Patlai river on the Badaghat-Kaukandi-Tekerghat road in the same upazila and 45-metre long bridge over the Chela river near Mangalpur Bazar area on the Anujani road in Chhatak upazila.
