Magura achieves Boro procurement target (2018-09-10)

MAGURA, Sept 09: Boro procurement target has achieved in the district.

The district food office sources said a total of 194 dealers were appointed in the district in this connection.

The procurement rate was Tk 38 per kg. The authority started the drive from May 05 with an achievement target of 4,927 tonnes of rice.

The target was achieved in the district on September 09.

Shabu Sharif, a dealer of Saziara area under Magura Sadar, said, "This year we got a reasonable procurement rate. So the target has been achieved before the scheduled time.

District food controller Rezaul Islam said, "The scheduled time for Boro procurement was August 30. Later, the government extended the time until September 15. We are happy for achieving the target."

When rice deposit is adequate in government godown, middlemen cannot hike prices by making syndicate, said the officials, adding, "We expect that the procurement target will be achieved throughout the country."
