Magura achieves rice procurement target this year

MAGURA, Jan 21: Aman procurement target has achieved in the district. The district food office sources said they started the drive on January 03 and the procurement target was 201 tonnes.

A total of nine millers supplied rice at the rate of Tk 39 per kg. Though the last date of the drive is February 28, the target has been fulfilled on Sunday.

178 millers were not eligible to supply rice as they did not supply rice during the drive in the previous year.

A black-listed miller Sarwar Hossein said among 187 millers only nine supplied rice this season. The procurement target was poor. He urged the authority concerned to procure rice from all the millers of the district to enhance the stock.

District food controller Rezaul Islam said, "We are happy as the rice procurement drive is successful here. Millers are also delighted and satisfied over the programme."
