Miscreants kill fish trader in Bagerhat

BAGERHAT, Aug 04 (UNB): A fish trader was stabbed to death by miscreants in Old Ferryghat area of Morelganj Upazila on Friday night.

The deceased was identified as Jahangir Khan, 45, son of Kalu Kha hailing from Hoglapasha village in the upazila.

Victim's wife Beauty Begum said a group of miscreants stabbed Jahangir indiscriminately at around 11:30 pm while he was guarding his fish enclosure in the area and soon fled the scene.

Later, the injured was taken to Pirojpur Sadar Hospital where doctors declared him dead.

Officer-in-charge of Morelganj Police Station Thakurdas Mondal said Jahangir might have been killed following a conflict with other fish traders over encroaching char land in the area. "Investigation is on to find out those behind the killing," he said.
