A total of five persons were killed in separate road accidents in Mymensingh and Naogaon on Monday, report agencies.
In Mymensingh, three people died and three other injured as a CNG-run autorickshaw crashed into a truck in Chanpur Bridge area in Phulpur upazila of Mymensingh on Monday.
The deceased were
identified as Mohammad Hasad ,16, son of Habij Uddin from Hatpagla village in Phulpur, Ashik Mia, 20, son of Riaz Uddin from Chatargram village in Nakla upazila of Sherpur,
and Abul Kashem, 50, son of late Nabbe Ali from Polashti village in Raipura upazila of Narsingdi.
Mohammad Abdul Hadi, officer-in-charge of Phulpur Police Station,
said the autorickshaw, which was carrying passengers, was heading towards Phulpur bus stand from Baitkandi when it collided with speeding truck coming from the opposite direction, leaving three passengers dead on the spot, the OC said.
Locals rushed the injured passengers to Phulpur Upazila Health Complex and Mymensingh Medical College Hospital for treatment.
Efforts are underway to identify the truck and its driver, added the OC.
Bike rider killed in Naogaon road accident
In Naogaon, a bike rider was killed and another injured as a pickup van hit their bike at Patnitola upazila of the district on Monday morning.
The deceased was identified as Abdur Karim, 30, son of Emadul Islam, a resident of Raghunathpur village of the upazila.
The accident took place around 11 am at Kallakati intersection of Najipur municipality when a pickup van hit the motorcycle from behind, leaving its two riders injured, said Enayetur Rahman, Officer-in-Charge Patnitala Police Station.
The injured were taken to the upazila health complex, where Abdur Karim succumbed to his injuries.
Later, injured Palash was
shifted to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital in critical condition.
