Vegetable seeds and fertilisers distributed among farmers in Jhalakathi

JHALAKATHI, Sept 24 (BSS): Vegetable seeds and fertilisers were distributed today among farmers in Sadar upazila under the agricultural incentive programme to increase the production of early winter vegetables. Upazila Nirbahi Officer Farhana Yasmin distributed the incentives among the farmers as the chief guest at the upazila parishad premises. Upazila Agriculture Officer Ali Ahmed and other officials were present on the occasion. Under this incentive programmme for the 2025-26 fiscal year, 375 farmers who are able to cultivate in their homes are being provided with 7 types of vegetable seeds. 635 farmers who can cultivate in the field are being provided with seeds along with fertilisers.

Youth held with Tk 0.5m counterfeit notes in Khulna

KHULNA, Sept 24: Police arrested a youth with counterfeit currency worth Tk 0.5 million (Tk 5.07 lakh) in Khulna city on Tuesday night. The arrested was identified as Md. Abdullah alias Nayon, 30, son of Md. Motaleb Hossain, a resident of Bongobashi Road under Khalishpur Police Station in the city. Based on secret information, a special team led by Inspector Taimur Islam conducted a raid in Nayon's residence around 2:30 am and recovered the counterfeit notes from his bedroom. The police team also detained Nayon in this connection during the raid. — BSS

Police launch 'Puja Security App'

JHENAIDAH, Sept 24: Special 'Puja Security App' has been launched by the police to ensure security of all the puja mandaps in the district. Superintendent of Police (SP) Md. Manjur Morshed inaugurated the app as the chief guest at a function held in the conference room of the SP office on Wednesday. Assistant police superintendent Mahfuz Hossain and leaders and activists of all the district's Puja mandap committees were present at the event. At the inauguration ceremony, SP Manjur Morshed said police have launched the app to strengthen security measures in all mandaps on the occasion of 'Saradiyo Durga Puja'. — BSS
