Peasants in remote villages get agri info from AICCs

GOPALGANJ, Sept 24: The Agriculture Information and Communication Centres (AICCs) are gaining popularity among the farmers in different remote areas of the district.

The initiative started on May, 2013 as the part of the Digital Bangladesh campaign.

Moreover, process of establishing integrated pest management (IPM) and integrated crop management (ICM) clubs in every union in the district is progressing fast.

The aim of the agri-information service of the Ministry of Agriculture is to develop the livelihood of the farmers across the country.

The centres not only provide agriculture education, but also birth registration, passport sending, compose, visa form writing, laminating, photo copy, scanning, sound box system, E-mail sending and different information services.

A total of 34 Information and Communication Centres including IPM and ICM clubs have already established across the district.

Of them seven are in Sadar, eight in Muksudpur, six in Kashiani, nine in Kotalipara and the rest four are in Tungipara upazila.

Rathindranath Biswas, upazila agriculture officer (UAO), Kotalipara, said farmers are benefited from the centres.

Now they know the modern agriculture methods to enhance crop production.
