BOGURA, Aug 19: A good number of villagers under Kahaloo and Dupchanchia upazilas in the district cross the Nagor river daily through a bamboo bridge in the absence of a concrete one risking their lives.

One Md Tahmaid Haque Iram of Jogapara village under Dupchanchia upazila said over 100 metre-long bamboo bridge was constructed with the help of locals in the first week of August last year.

"We are in great trouble. Our children cross the bridge alone. A major accident may occur anytime", he added.

It is also difficult to go to Dupchanchia upazila headquarters from Kahaloo upazila. It costs extra time and money, he further said.

Students of Dupchanchia Mahila Degree Collage, Jahanara Kamruzzaman Degree College, Darus Sunnah Fazil (Degree) Madrasa, Sammilito Pre-cadet School, Model Government School, Model Primary School and technical college from Kahaloo upazila have to use the temporary delicate bridge daily to attend classes.

The authority concerned has been informed several times about the situation, but no step has been taken in this connection yet, some locals told this correspondent.
