Physically challenged Beauty appearing at HSC exam

BOGURA, Apr 13: Physically challenged Beauty Akhtar is appearing at the Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) examinations this year.

Beauty lives in Shibpur village under Khetlal upazila of Joypurhat district with her parents Bayezid Hossain and Rahima Begum. She was born without hands. She writes with her legs.

During a visit to her examination centre at Dupchanchia Jahanara Kamruzzaman Degree College, this correspondent found Beauty, a Science student, writing with the toes of her right leg.

Beauty's parents said she obtained GPA 5.0 in the SSC examinations.

Principal Dupchanchia Mahila Degree College Shamsul Haque Akand said Beauty Akhtar is one of the meritorious students of the college.

Upazila Nirbahi Officer SM Zakir Hossain said Beauty Akhtar has set an example for others. She takes part in the examinations with the general students despite being physically challenged.

"We are proud of her", he added.
