Pregnant woman, daughter murdered in Tangail

TANGAIL, Oct 13 (UNB): A pregnant woman and her minor daughter have been murdered in Tangail municipality area.

The deceased are Lucky Begum, 22, seven months pregnant wife of Al Amin, and their daughter Alifa, 4, of Bhalukkandi in the municipality.

Al Amin who runs a top-up shop at Asad Market near their house found the body of his daughter lying in front of the house gate when he returned home around 12:30am on Sunday, said police.

As he shouted and called his wife, no response was found from inside. Later, he approached the house only to find her lying dead in front of it.

On information, police rushed in, recovered the bodies and sent those to General Hospital morgue for autopsy, said officer-in-charge of Sadar Model Police Station Mosharraf Hossain.

He said Alifa's throat was slit while Lucky was hacked. "The reason behind the double murders is not clear. We're investigating it," he said.
