Prime suspect held in Bagerhat

BAGERHAT, Oct 13 (UNB): Police arrested the prime suspect in a case filed over the vandalism of Hindu idols at a Durga Puja Mandap in Chitalmari upazila on Sunday.

The arrestee was identified as Hasan Kazi, 26, son of Dabir Kazi of the upazila.

Mir Shariful Haque, officer-in-charge of Chitalmari Police Station, said they conducted a drive in the Hizla area of the upazila and arrested him from the bordering area around 5pm.

Idols of Hindu god and goddesses were vandalised by miscreants at a Durga Puja Mandap at Charborobaria Purbopara village in Chitalmari on Friday night.

Nripen Chandra Boidda, president of the temple committee filed a case over the incident on Saturday.
