Road accidents kill two in Habiganj, Gopalganj

HABIGANJ, May 16 (BSS): A truck driver was killed in a road accident in Rukunpur area under Nabiganj upazila of the district Wednesday morning.

The deceased was identified as Faruq Hossain, 26, son of Shamsu Miah, a resident of Jaintiapur upazila in Sylhet district.

Officer-in-Charge of Sherpur Highway Thana Bimal Chandra said the accident occurred on the Dhaka-Sylhet highway when a truck collided head-on with a sand-laden tractor, leaving truck driver Faruq dead on the spot.

A case was filed in this connection.

Another report from Gopalganj adds: A man was killed when a bus run over him at Gopinathpur in Sadar upazila on Wednesday.

The deceased was identified as Angshu Biswas, 30, of Gopinatpur village in the upazila and a cleaner of Bangabandu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Science and Technology University (BSMRSTU).

Manirul Islam, officer-in-charge of Gipinathpur Police Station, said the accident took place around 8 am when Dhaka-bound bus of 'Tungipara Express' from Gopalganj knocked the victim down while he was standing beside the road for going to his workplace, leaving him dead on the spot
