A total of five persons were killed in separate road accidents in Sirajganj, and Dinajpur districts on Saturday and Friday evening, report agencies.
In Sirajganj, a woman was killed and her husband was injured after a truck hit them in the Chalabhara Bazar area of Sirajganj's Kazipur upazila on Saturday.
The deceased was identified as Julekha Khatun, 35, wife of Harun-or Rashid from Chalabhara Purbapara village.
Inspector (Investigation) of Kazipur Police Station, Lal Mia, said that the couple went for a walk on the road next to their house after Fajr prayers on Saturday morning. At that time, a speeding sand-laden truck ran over them, killing Julekha on the spot.
Locals rescued Harun-or Rashid, who was in serious condition, and took him to Bogra Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital (SZMEC).
In Dinajpur, three people were killed in two separate road accidents in Dinajpur over the last 24 hours.
According to the Dinajpur Police Control Room, a cyclist was killed after being crushed under wheel of a truck on the Parbatipur-Phulbari road in the Bhabanipur Sherpur area of Parbatipur upazila at 10 am on Saturday.
The deceased was identified as Saidul Islam, 36, son of Sharif Uddin, a resident Sujapur village in Phulbari upazila of the district.
Parbatipur Model Police Station Officer in Charge (OC) Abdus Salam said that, the body was recovered from the scene.
On the other hand, a woman and a child were killed when a passenger bus of Bahan Paribahan hit their easy bike in Dos Mile area of Kaharol Upazila on Friday evening, said Dinajpur Dosh Mile Highway Police Station OC Inspector Mokhlesur Rahman.
The deceased were identified as, Nargis Begum, 40, wife of Shariful Islam of Hirarhat area of Dinajpur Sadar upazila and her two-month-old granddaughter Humaira.
The accident took place while Nargis Begum, her two daughters- Lisa Akhter and Ripa Akhter-- and granddaughter Humaira, daughter of Ripa Akhter, were returning home from Birganj upazila of the district on an easy bike while a passenger bus hit the easy bike, OC added.
They were undergoing treatment in the hospital where Humaira and Nargis Begum succumbed to their injuries this morning, said Dinajpur Hospital Ward Master Masud Rana.
