Sirajganj, Gopalganj road crashes kill two

Two persons were killed in separate road accidents in Sirajganj and Gopalganj districts on Wednesday and Tuesday night, report agencies.
In Sirajganj, a school teacher died after a speeding bus ran over him on the Bogura-Nagarbari highway in Dadpur area of Sirajganj's Raiganj upazila on Wednesday.
The deceased was identified as Manjurul Islam, 44, son of late Nurul Islam from Dadpur Mohatpara village and served as an assistant teacher at Bennai Teghuri Government High School.
MA Wadud, officer-in-charge of Hatikumrul Highway Police Station, confirmed the matter.
The accident happened around noon on Wednesday while Manjurul was crossing the road. A bus traveling to Dhaka hit him, resulting in his death on the spot, said the OC.
In Gopalganj, a college student was killed and a battery-run easy-bike driver injured in a road accident on the Dhaka-Khulna highway in Bijaypasha crossing area of Paikkandi union under Sadar upazila here Tuesday night.
The deceased was Rezwan Sardar, 24, son of Masum Sardar, a resident of Bijaypasha Purbapara village of the upazila. He was a third year student of Economics Department of Gopalganj Government Bangabandhu University College.
The accident occurred in the area when a passenger bus hit a battery-run easy-bike around 7:45 pm, leaving the easy bike passenger dead on the spot and injured its driver, sub-inspector (SI) of Bhatiapara Highway Police AKM Hasanuzzaman said.
