Small factories produce kitchen ware in Saidpur

NILPHAMARI, Mar 03: Kitchen ware is being made in the railway workshop city of Saidpur in the district.
Kitchen ware such as pressure cooker, frying pan and so on is being made in a factory named Rayalex Metal Industries Limited. The industry is located in Niamotpur area of Saidpur municipality.
Sources said entrepreneur of the venture Gokul Poddar established the industry where nearly 100 persons are employed.
Sources said Saidpur railway workshop which was established during the British rule in 1870 on 213 hectares of land used to produce thousands of skilled workers that enabled Saidpur city to establish different kinds of small and medium industries. Most of the people of Saidpur are engaged in the industries or they are self-employed.
Kitchen wares and other utensils made in Saidpur are sold in the national markets and are also being exported to some countries including South East Asia and the Middle East.
Sources said there prevails hundreds of factories of different kind run by skillful retired employees and workers of Saidpur railway workshop.
While contacted Gokul Poddar entrepreneur of the industry said he is trying to expand the industry and modernize it to create more employment opportunity of the local people.
While contacted Shamim Ahmed, a worker of the industry, said he was a worker of Saidpur railway workshop and after retiring from there he joined Rolex Metal Industries Ltd. He said he gets tk 25,000 salary per month which help him to live a decent life.
