Tangail cauliflower growers make good profit this season

TANGAIL, Jan 27: Cauliflower growers of the district are making a handsome profit this season due to a good market price. They are satisfied over the good production of the winter delicacy.

The Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) sources said Tangail is well-known for growing different kinds of vegetables round the year. Growers provided all necessary support to get a good production.

Cultivators of the area generally grow three varieties of cauliflower. They are Puisha, Shiraji and local varieties.

Among them Puisha is the most popular variety for its quality, through Shiraji was cultivated in more land, DAE sources added.

A large size cauliflower is being sold at Tk 25 to Tk 40 and a small one at Tk 15 to Tk 20 in the local kitchen market.

DAE officials said cauliflower farming is good profit in winter. Around 950 hectares of land have been brought under the production of the winter delicacy this season to produce 24,985 tonnes of output.
