Teenage girl dies from snakebite in Narail

NARAIL, Sept 24 (BSS): A teenage girl died from a snakebite at Dighirchar village under Itna union of Lohagara upazila in the district on Tuesday night.

The deceased was identified as Sanjida Khanam, 13, daughter of Roman Bhuiyan of Korfa village under the same upazila. She had been staying at her maternal uncle's house in Dighirchar village and was a student at a local madrasa.

According to police sources, a venomous snake bit her while she was sleeping inside the house around 1am.

She was initially taken to Lohagara Upazila Health Complex, but as her condition worsened, she was referred to Narail District Hospital, where the on-duty doctor declared her dead around 4am.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Shariful Islam of Lohagara Police Station confirmed the incident and said the body was handed over to the family after completing all legal formalities.
